William could feel how his face paled instantly by the sight before him. The first few seconds, his eyes felt to sore from not being used for so long, but finally after a little moment of adjustment, it seemed as his vision began to clear.

Small, small pieces of meat were scattered on the muddy ground underneath him. But what he got stuck upon was something looking oddly familiar. It took a while to realize what it was. But as the picture grew even more focused he could see that it resembled a small leg. The first thing he saw since he was blindfolded was tiny tiny pieces of meat and familiar pieces of something looking oddly human. It was barely longer than two centimeters, in other words, extremely small, but it was impossible not to see the resemblance.

William had never seen anything of the like before, but did not dare to bend down for a closer look. The breath began to accelerate as he slowly began to realize. He knew he had been eating meat of many sorts, some of them were more strikingly different than others. But whatever this really was, what he had survived on eating, was very unclear for him once blindfolded. Everything he ate was really small and honestly tasted most of dirt to him and after long periods of starvation, he began to eat whatever they threw at him.

It was only after that ... Mic .. Micah (?) Had ended up in his mouth as he once again began to feel proper concern about what they feed him. He had received food just as every other day but suddenly it started to move around and sqeeked! He thought back on the feeling of holding those toothpicks of legs belonging to the little creature, and how he grew terrified as it began to move. He had almost eaten that poor thing and suddenly it panicked and beat him with all its power as he just kept it still.

What he had tried to eat was clearly alive and later it had been shown that whatever it was that had ended up with him, could speak. Admittedly, in a very strange language, but with a moment of reflection, he had still managed to understand that he had been given a name and that the creature was calming down as he listened to it. Even though he honestly had a minor panic attack of hearing it speak.

The guards had been talking a similar language, and after a year of hearing their screams, commands muffled through the clogged ears, he had managed to take in at least some few words and guessed what they probably meant.

He panicked when the guards burned him, thinking that his only way to save the little creature was by pretending that he had eaten it. The guards had been angered earlier by that. It was really painful whenever they chose to burn him. When he had realized what they asked for, he was forced to rescue the little creature before they killed him themselves. He could not stand to know that the tiny thing would die by the hands of his captives otherwise.

William searched along the ground carefully with his nose for the little one, and hurried to conceal it as fast as he got hold of it. It had run under him in ignorance of what the consequence would be if he managed to hide. Williams heart whimpered when he got hold of the thin legs again but did not have much of a choice to be honest.

The passing hours with the creature trapped in his mouth were some of the longest of his life. It was insanely how hard it was to keep his mouth oxygenated at the same time as trying to prevent the small animal from injuring itself. He felt distinctly how it tried to get out in the beginning but he tried to get his message through that it was not a good idea. He had to wait until night when the guards had gone home before he could release it again.

It seemed as if his mouth could not see any difference between friend or food though, for a number of occasions, he had to raise the little creature up to his palate to swallow away saliva. There had not been much of a successful rescue if it would drown in there instead.

The touch as the little creature was struggling for life against the pressure of his tongue was extremely unpleasant. It felt just as wrong as it was. Luckily he did not throw up but damn it was close on some occasions! He had many foreign things in his mouth over the last year, but nothing could prepare him for the feeling of having something alive inside of there. Moreover, the little creature taster just like the rest of it, dirt. Only difference was its warmth and movements. Its interesting how clearly he could feel its little paws, fingers and everything. He had to wait until dawn when it was perfectly safe to let go of it…

The following evening the creature proved that it could talk just like the guards, and tried to tell William many things. He had understood that he was not allowed to talk back, which seemed logical because the guards might discover them, but the rest was difficult to understand. To begin with he just panicked by hearing that this little creature could talk at all! It was so tiny and to hear that voice, from a creature literally small enough having to climb his face to get up there… The little voice sounded as nervous as I but in its entirety, it sounded like it was grateful. I was so proud of my little companion for its bravery and melted by the thought of having found a friend. Micah was its name, or so it seemed.

It was hard to imitate the pronunciation that the creature had just used for its name but he still wanted to try. After his attempt to say the creatures name, he gave his own name back in return.
The only thing that swept through his mind after their meeting was the thought of having the little creature helping him to get out of there. It spoke the same language as the guards and seemed friendly. William wanted to ask Micah for help during their little session but did not know how to, and before he know it the little piece of fabric was back in his ear again. Having the little creature diving into his hair after that made his heart melt however so he was not particularly saddened.

Scurried back into inside the sweater again he became left alone for the night again. Or well... not really alone anymore. He could feel the light touch of little Micah lying asleep at his side and even though he could not embrace him and tell him thanks, it felt like the little creature began to warm up at last.

William sat on his knees over the tiny pile of meat and felt how droplets of sweat began to form. It was extremely disturbing. He had probably eaten a bunch of those small humanoid creatures without knowing it by now. Micah sat upon his head, surrounded by his catastrophe of a hair , but just as he froze he heard the most piercing and tiniest of screams.

------------------------

I felt how the wooden panel of the bridge scraped my back as I was pulled away by the two guards. Why were they always two? It reminded me of three days earlier and how they had planned my execution. But now I wanted nothing else than to return to the giant. He was my only source of protection right now!

As I was halfway through the knot, the nights patrolling began for the guards. As william helped me get to the back, he had repositioned himself onto his knees and sat up, apparently making the distance between me and the bridge almost non-existante. In other words, the guards caught sight of me where I sat and could simply lean over the edge and grab me.

"What the hell do you think you’re doing!? Didn’t he finish you off days ago!? I saw him eat you!" One guard snapped and adjusted his grip to give an even rougher pull to my hair as he dragged me across the street, away from the pit. "Look! Now look what you've done!" The guard shouted and pointed towards the edge of the pit. "If we would have let you roam free down there that devilish thing might have been stomping around up here instead by now! Why could you not just stayed dead?!”
It was obvious that the guards thought only ill thoughts of William and that they were afraid for their lives just now to the thought of William being set free. All I could see as my vision traced along the brick stones of the open area around the pit was the messy hairs at the back of Williams head that apparently reached higher than what I had expected. He sat dead still with eyes fixed on the bottom of the pit. He had not even reacted to my abduction yet!

"William! William Don’t just sit there! Help me! Hey Wi... Ouch! " I did not manage to scream much more before the guard beat me back down to the ground. Following second I felt the grip on my arm harden and saw how the other guard ran to my other side for “assistance”, but the time just stopped at that instant.  I tried to see what was going on through the blood flowing down my forehead and just as the guard left my field of sight my world simply came to a pause. It was impossible not to drown in those enormous eyes, staring back into my own with such amount of fear and confusion radiating through every one of those enormous tears.

The biggest, deepest and most emotional eyes I had ever seen. With a color of skyblue and frost biting at the edges of his irises.
